NJ Regulates Liquid Edibles: Paving The Way for Summer Social Consumption

On July 2nd, the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (NJ – CRC) announced the testing requirements for a new food and drink category called Liquid Edibles. The commission’s news opens the door for new cannabis-infused beverages and culinary products to hit Garden State dispensary menus just in time for your trip down the shore.

The NJ-CRC’s recent liquid edibles category expansion announcement also coincides with NJ dispensaries being able to apply for “consumption area application endorsements.” Essentially, all Class 5 retail operators in New Jersey can now apply for adjacent space to host social consumption events. Watch this space.

Applicants’ lounges will not be allowed to sell food or alcohol in the current format. The idea is that adults 21+ can bring food or have it delivered from their favorite restaurant. Additionally, Medical cannabis patients would be welcome to bring their marijuana products to the table. The NJ-CRC sees an evolving social consumption landscape that offers New Jersey more tax revenue opportunities from marijuana sales and annual fees.

New Jersey consumers ready to BBQ and chill, this new Liquid Edibles category of infused beverages, tinctures, and foods is here to elevate your next summer party. Think grilled wings covered in a fiery-infused hot sauce for the burn, all washed down with a chilled 5 mg seltzer.

For the canna-curious, and high-tolerance users alike, New Jersey retail locations will become a great place to learn about new liquid beverage and culinary formats. And unique hang for an initial experience with cool people.
